Member Update

Dear Members,

The ANZCVS is growing rapidly: enrolments in both Membership and Fellowship examinations are increasing annually and our flagship scientific conference, Science Week, ran at full capacity in 2018 with late-registrations unable to be accommodated. Our feedback regularly is that Science Week is the best scientific conference in the region because of the intersection of cutting-edge scientific content and a diversity of Chapter streams creating the ability to communicate with a wide range of professional colleagues. In 2019, the Conference will move to a new and larger venue at The Star, Gold Coast 4 to 6 July 2019.

The ANZCVS is actively seeking new ways to engage existing members (particularly those that cannot attend Science Week) and new potential members, to strengthen our organisation and continue to grow the College and meet the future needs of our profession. We are looking to provide better support to our Chapters.  Recent expansion of our office services reflects this commitment and has included increasing our examination officer team; appointing a membership engagement/marketing officer, a project officer and Science Week coordinators for both scientific content and industry. We hope to both improve our engagement with Chapters and the quality of our communication with our valuable volunteer workforce across the organisation (Chapters, examinations, Science Week, training/mentorship).

In this light, Council undertook a strategic review of the existing management structure and resolved that the role of Executive Officer was redundant. We thank Mr Kim Hudson for his service in this role for nearly 5 years. Our review concluded that we need a new, transformational and strategic leader and we will be working towards implementing this decision in the coming months. We will keep you updated.

Council is focused on the sustainability of the ANZCVS as well as improving our services to Members throughout this process. Feedback about Member services is gratefully received, and can be given by contacting the College Manager, Mary Anne Hiscutt at cm@anzcvs.org.au
