Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians | Full-Time/Part-Time | Balcatta, WA (Opening August 2026)
Who we are
ACES is a new purpose-built emergency and specialist referral centre in Perth’s Northern Suburbs. We are proudly independent, locally owned, and deeply connected to our community. At ACES we exist to practise veterinary medicine with excellence, compassion, and integrity. Every clinical decision is made for the right reasons - excellent medicine, genuine compassion, and the wellbeing of our patients, their families, and our team. We believe great care comes from people who are fully invested in their work — who see animals as individuals, clients as partners, and veterinary medicine as a craft worth doing well. We’re here because we love this work, and that love shows in the care we give every day.
The opportunity
We have exciting opportunities for Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians to join our founding clinical team. At ACES, medical decisions are led by expertise and guided by evidence. We prioritise quality of care above all else, with the freedom to allocate time, diagnostics, and resources based on clinical need. You’ll work within a genuinely collaborative referral specialist environment where complex cases are managed collectively, and communication is open and respectful. Working alongside a multidisciplinary specialist team, you will have the opportunity to manage a diverse and challenging caseload while continuing to learn and develop within a supportive culture. We are building a hospital where patients receive technically excellent and compassionate care, clients feel informed and supported, and colleagues feel valued and trusted in their work.
Why “ACES”
The ACES Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) departments have been thoughtfully designed by two Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECCs), Dr Melissa Claus and Dr Elodie Yam, who genuinely love this work and created ACES with a clear vision: to deliver exceptional, collaborative, evidence-based patient care while remaining sustainable for the people who provide it.
We have created a purpose-built workspace that supports workflow efficiency, patient comfort, and staff wellbeing. We understand both the privilege and pressure of working in ECC and are passionate about creating and maintaining a culture where our team feels valued, continues to grow, and is supported in practical and meaningful ways — through appropriate staffing, strong teamwork, and a culture that is genuinely kind, collaborative, and non-judgemental. There is an understanding that everyone experiences moments of overwhelm, and clear systems exist to ensure support is available when it is needed most.
We are deeply passionate about training the next generation of ECC clinicians, interns, residents, and future specialists, and creating a hospital culture where learning is encouraged, questions are welcomed, and teamwork is genuinely valued. Most importantly, we never lose sight of why this work matters. When pets become critically unwell, it is often one of the most stressful and emotional experiences a family can face. Our goal is to make those moments feel as supported, compassionate, and positive as possible — while delivering thoughtful, individualised care to every patient entrusted to us.
