Christchurch Member Social
New Zealand South Island Members and Fellows gathered for a cocktail party in Christchurch on Friday 28 September.
The location was the gorgeous boutique hotel, The George, and the function was well attended by vets local to Christchurch from a range of disciplines, including Surgery, Equine and Small Animal Dentistry, Cattle Medicine, Small Animal Medicine, Welfare and Radiology.
Potential members also attended and used the opportunity to discuss mentoring, exams and the benefits of Membership with colleagues.
The Social was part of Council’s push to better engage with the New Zealand Members of the ANZCVS, and attended by President Dr Zoe Lenard and Honorary Secretary Dr Wayne Ricketts.
Fellow Helen Milner, a Christchurch local and specialist surgeon, spoke to the gathering about her time involved with College through her Chapter, mentoring for membership and examining, commending the collegiality and friendships she had made through her involvement with the ANZCVS.
Councillor Ricketts advised the gathering that he would like to form a New Zealand branch of the ANZCVS to foster ongoing involvement with Kiwi’s and called for expressions of interest for involvement.
If you would like to be involved with the NZ branch of the ANZCVS, please get in touch with Councillor Ricketts at wayne.ricketts@vetcouncil.org.nz or the College office.
We encourage all Members to get in touch with ideas about ways that we can continue our engagement.
