Veterinary Surgery Internship

Location: Melbourne, Victoria

An incredible opportunity exists for a Veterinarian in the early stages of their career seeking to develop their knowledge and skills in surgery to join us at the Veterinary Referral Hospital in Dandenong, Melbourne VIC.

We are offering a 12-month fixed-term Internship in the Surgery Department in our modern multi-disciplinary referral hospital and ECC.

The internship will enable the successful applicant to be mentored and receive increased surgical exposure in a safe and supportive environment. Having access to our team of specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, Anaesthesia, Radiology, Internal Medicine and Neurology, coupled with world-class facilities and equipment, will afford you the opportunity to achieve your potential. Our facilities include fluoroscopy, CT, a 1.5T MRI, arthroscopy and laparoscopy.

You will work a flexible roster based on the needs of the Department, but essentially it is a day shift roster Monday to Friday. Working under supervision, there will be the opportunity to engage directly and frequently with the Surgeons and other departmental specialists. Journal reviews and the writing of papers will be encouraged and supported as part of further learning.

The department-specific Internships will enable the successful applicants to advance their knowledge and gain skills in key aspects of the veterinary industry in a modern, world-class facility.

To succeed in this role, you will possess the following:

  • A veterinary degree registerable in Victoria
  • Ideally have completed a rotating internship or equivalent
  • A genuine desire to be a part of our team practising the highest standards in veterinary care
  • A keen interest in developing your knowledge and skills in Surgery
  • Passion and self-motivation for continuing education
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills
  • Flexible, adaptable, positive attitude with a focus on teamwork
