Who
We are Animalius Vet: a thriving independent, multidisciplinary hospital in Perth, Western Australia. Our mission is to better support our referring partners whilst keeping our professional lives both sustainable and enriching. We aim to be a training hub, growing the next generation of specialists.

We are looking for a Board-certified specialist in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia (FANZCVS, Dipl.ECVAA, or DACVAA) to expand our small team of specialist anaesthetists.

The hours
Full or part time, weekdays only. Our full-time specialists work 4 days/week, without on-call.

The hospital

Case load?

We provide specialist referrals in dentistry, diagnostic imaging (including 64 slice CT and high field MRI), internal medicine, and surgery. Additionally, a local veterinary cardiologist performs interventional cardiology procedures in our hospital, utilising our anaesthesia services.

We have dedicated hospital vets for anaesthesia support, inpatient and 24 hr overnight care, and a motivated, intelligent and skilled nursing team. Many of our nursing team have completed advanced anaesthesia training courses and are trained to specifically assist our specialist anaesthetists.

There is opportunity to practice referral pain management services in our Dipl.ECVAA led chronic pain clinic.

Our team is loyal and stable; they will have your back. Our specialists, across disciplines, work together and support each other, demonstrating a truly collaborative approach. Our anaesthetists are trusted and respected as integral to our team and success.

The workplace

Our hospital is beautiful. It was designed with an eye for aesthetics as well as function. It has dedicated workspaces for each discipline, striving for a calm environment to optimise patient and staff wellbeing, while encouraging efficient workflow. Our clients and staff love it.

Our operating suite is equipped with GE Carestations and multiparameter monitors complete with agent monitoring and spirometry. Throughout the rest of the hospital there are several Mindray VETA5 workstations and every anaesthetic station has a GE multi-parameter monitor with capnography (some with agent monitoring). We have a Piloter mobile ultrasound machine for regional anaesthesia, and access to fluoroscopy when required.

Our values
We are an organisation that is not afraid to challenge dogma. We are life-long learners, solution focused and fierce in our support of our staff and referring veterinarians. If personal and professional growth are not things you want to embrace in a workplace, you will not thrive here.

What does this look like?
We have multidisciplinary rounds every day and Journal Club every week, regular morbidity and mortality, and interspecies collaborations (animals vs humans!). We are reflective, and ask, what can we do differently? We provide non-technical skills training, acknowledging high-performing teams have great social and cognitive skills. Our specialist staff are well known throughout Australia through our engagement with teaching (vets and veterinary students), resident training and leadership positions in our industry.

We require our nursing staff to stretch and grow across multiple disciplines to expand their skills and knowledge within the hospital, providing work opportunities, and continuing education. We close the hospital and hold regular team building events, work with all staff to set goals for their professional development and assist them with the resources to achieve these.
