About the hospital

ARH Brisbane, a specialist and emergency hospital at Sinnamon Park in Brisbane’s west, opened 5 years ago and has grown steadily since. Our purpose-designed, state of the art hospital offers services in medical and surgical oncology, small animal surgery, internal medicine, and neurology as well as an after-hours emergency and critical care service. ARH Brisbane, is well equipped with Siemens for advanced imaging (64 slice CT, 1.5T MR), fluoroscopy, digital radiology, 2 Philips Affiniti ultrasound machines, IDEXX in-house laboratory, endoscopy, a dedicated oncology ward and chemotherapy room with fume hood.

The oncology team comprises two registered specialists in veterinary oncology, a registered specialist in surgical oncology, and an off-site registered specialist in radiation oncologist, two medical oncology interns and a surgical oncology intern. Our wider team is supported by our dedicated oncology technicians and nurses, emergency department, experienced hospital nurses and customer care services.

About the Residency

ARH in Brisbane, is offering an oncology residency position starting in February 2023. This is a full-time 3-year residency training programme with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, allowing the successful candidate to gain accreditation for a Fellowship in Veterinary Oncology.


Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in QLD, hold a current radiation licence, and have excellent communication skills and work ethic as well as a strong knowledge base on which to build. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be hardworking, resilient and adaptable
  • Have passed ANZCVS Membership examinations in Small Animal Medicine or be close to sitting (i.e. at least 3 years post-graduation)
