Specialist in Veterinary Radiology

Veterinary Referral Hospital (VRH) in Melbourne, Australia, is seeking a registered specialist or board eligible veterinarian in veterinary radiology to become part of a dynamic, collaborative, progressive and friendly team in a well-equipped hospital.

Melbourne is a vibrant city on the south-east coast of Australia. It is the culture capital of Australia and a fabulous place to live and use as a base to explore the rest of the country. The food, wine and coffee are the best Australia has to offer and there is a vast array of festivals, exhibitions and sporting events to attend throughout the year. It is a port city with beautiful beaches extending around the bay and temperate rainforests and wineries less than a one-hour drive away. Melbourne has a similar latitude to Seville, Athens and San Francisco- so we have the perfect balance of four seasons without ever getting too cold or hot.

VRH is a busy, multi-specialist veterinary hospital located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our clinic is a true multidisciplinary centre with specialists in radiology, critical care, anaesthesia, neurology, surgery and internal medicine. We are looking to grow our interventional radiology practice. We are a true tertiary hospital renown for working up the weird and wacky cases that have you scouring the literature for answers. Our team values collaboration and we foster an inquisitive and questioning culture to yield the best results for our patients and give you the greatest satisfaction in your role. There is the capacity for teaching and mentoring as our hospital employs both rotating and fixed specialty interns.

Our radiology department currently consists of a full-time specialist radiologist, four radiographers, a contracted radiologist and radiology intern. We have a 1.5T GE MRI, a 16-slice GE CT, an Accuson Sequoia ultrasound as our mainstay and 3 additional ultrasounds used throughout the hospital and a brand new Zenition 70 Phillips C-arm fluoroscopic perfect for swallow studies and interventional procedures. Our reading room is tucked away in a quiet corner with flexible standing sitting desks and multiple screens for your viewing pleasure.

The position

This position is for a specialist (or residency-trained registrar) in radiology with a degree and qualifications registerable in Australia, who enjoys and values working collaboratively in a progressive and friendly team environment.

As a result, our working hours can be flexible. While we would ideally love a full-time clinician, part-time applicants are encouraged to apply.  Full-time can be individually varied consisting of three 12 hour shifts, four 10 hour shifts or any combination you please.
