Specialist in Small Animal Medicine

The Centre for Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) is seeking a registered specialist in small animal internal medicine to join our friendly team.

About CARE

CARE is a busy, well-equipped, privately owned, multi-specialist veterinary hospital located in Collingwood, on the fringe of Melbourne city. We aim for gold standard patient care at all times and pride ourselves on having a cohesive, friendly working environment. We strive for excellent relationships with our referring veterinarians and clients.

The Position

The Medicine team consists of one full-time and two part-time internal medicine specialists, as well as our excellent support staff. We work closely with specialists in surgery, diagnostic imaging, neurology and emergency/critical care as well as an experienced team of ICU/Emergency veterinarians and an excellent team of nurses. There is good surgical support and after-hours ICU care of medical inpatients. Equipment includes digital radiology, a Phillips Affiniti 50 ultrasound machine with full cardiac capabilities, ECG, endoscopy, fluoroscopy and computed tomography. Our priority is to provide outstanding patient care with compassion whilst maintaining exceptional clinical standards.

This position would involve shared primary responsibility for medicine referral cases with three other registered internal medicine specialists. Cases include those referred from general practice clinics throughout Melbourne, as well as internal referrals from the ICU. After-hours responsibilities are minimal, although phone support is sometimes required. An attractive remuneration package would be negotiated but would include four weeks holiday leave and one week of study leave annually (full time pro-rata). Hours are negotiable.
