Small Animal Veterinarian

Newcastle, NSW

Are you after a new direction or career challenge? Maybe a lifestyle change, or looking to relocate to our beautiful and bustling Newcastle? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Located in Adamstown, an inner-city suburb of Newcastle, Brunker Road Veterinary Centre is an advanced, modern, purpose-built small animal hospital with 9 experienced veterinarians, including 3 ANZCVS members. The centre is an established and highly respected veterinary practice, well known for our high professional standards of veterinary and client care.

We are seeking a full-time small animal veterinarian to join our great team. Veterinarians seeking a permanent part-time position are also encouraged to apply. The position would be well suited to applicants with a focus on small animal medicine, who wish to advance their medical and surgical skills.

We offer a comprehensive small animal service in the Newcastle and Hunter region, including medical and critical care, advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, oncology, and chemotherapy. The centre is well equipped with CT (GE Revolution ACT), digital radiology, Mylab7 ultrasound, rigid & flexible endoscopy, full idexx in house pathology diagnostics, IM3 dental & dental radiology, 5 consultation rooms, critical care facilities and 2 dedicated surgical theatres.

As well as providing services for existing and new clients, we accept referrals from other local veterinarians providing Newcastle, the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast with a local alternative to referral to specialists for many advanced procedures.

Further education and professional development is offered and encouraged. With a team network of like-minded associates, CPD, in house training, VIN access, plus one week’s study leave annually, we support our staff in developing and reaching professional goals. Saturday work is shared amongst all the veterinarians and is included in your rostered weeks’ duties. There is no after-hours work required. Our vets are supported by a fabulous team of dedicated, caring, and experienced nurses, receptionists, animal attendants and managers. We all enjoy a shared sense of humour, camaraderie, high standards, and being part of our team.

The successful applicant should be enthusiastic, motivated, have good communication skills and be dedicated to providing the best quality of care. Importantly, the applicant should be keen to be a part of a team committed to providing excellence in both veterinary care and client service. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Newcastle is a great place to live and work, just 2 hours north of Sydney. With great beaches, restaurants, and cafes all just a few minutes bike ride from our practice.  Lake Macquarie and the beautiful Hunter Valley vineyards are close enough to be easily enjoyed whenever you find the need.
