Veterinary Specialist Services is offering a position in our residency program commencing in early 2020.
Veterinary Specialist Services is a multi-site, multi-disciplinary specialist and referral hospital group. We aim to provide exceptional patient care through a team approach, industry leading service to clients and referring veterinarians, and educational leadership for fellow veterinarians.
The residency will be at both our Jindalee and Underwood sites. You will have access to a range of diagnostic equipment and services including; pathology, MRI, CT, digital radiography, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy for both orthopaedic and soft tissue interventional indications, dedicated intensive care unit complete with ventilators and a blood bank, endoscopy, and an internal physiotherapy team with an underwater treadmill for rehabilitation.
The successful applicant will be supervised by 2 small animal surgery specialists and join a team of 6 Small Animal Surgery Specialists over 3 practices along with a network of registrars, residents and interns dedicated to helping each other provide exceptional patient care.
You will also be working with small animal internal medicine specialists, a feline specialist, cardiologists, dentists, ophthalmologists, dermatologists, emergency and ICU veterinarians and a physiotherapist. We maintain a collaborative, modern hospital with daily clinical rounds and regular journal club and textbook reviews.
Veterinary Specialist Services is an eminent and inclusive referral hospital. We work alongside the Animal Emergency Services to provide 24-hour care 365 days a year. We have a high and varied caseload and employ more than 30 veterinarians over 3 sites (Underwood, Carrara and Jindalee).

The full‐time program will enable the successful applicant to fulfil the credentialing requirements for specialist examination by the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and ultimately become a fellow of the College.
Applicants must have completed a rotating internship or have equivalent clinical experience in practice. Being a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists will be looked on favourably but is not essential. The residency is available for a highly motivated, driven individual who will practice excellence in patient care and make the most out of every learning opportunity presented in this busy tertiary referral centre.
