Small Animal Surgery Internship
Sunshine Coast: North Coast Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre – 12 month SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY INTERNSHIP - 2 positions.
North Coast Veterinary Specialist is the only full multidisciplinary referral centre in the beautiful sunshine coast. With a brand-new purpose build hospital and 24/7 fully staffed emergency services opened in September 2020. We provide a complete range of clinical services including internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, physiotherapy and 24-hour emergency and critical care services. We have regular visiting dermatology and cardiology services as well. The hospital is in Sunshine coast with the world’s most beautiful beaches at your doorstep and the perfect weather all year round.
The surgery intern position:
We have an exciting opportunity for two vet with a keen interest in surgery and want to advance their skills in orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, oncology and reconstructive surgeries.
The successful applicant will be required to assist in our day to day referral surgical cases. This position is a structured learning opportunity and will allow access to a varied case load with the support of highly qualified professionals. The hospital is staffed with specialist, registrars, residents and interns in surgery.
This is a fixed term 12month internship starting January/February 2023 and exclusively surgical, although wiliness to assist and integrate with other departments of the hospital would be expected.
You will have opportunities to actively participate in journal clubs, textbook chapter readings, daily case discussions and literature reviews.
We will encourage and provide support for ANZCVS membership examinations if not already enrolled.
Competitive remuneration including 4 weeks of annual leave, 1 week of study and conference leave each.

To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Current registration with the Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board.
- 1-2 years of general practice experience or completed a rotating internship, however the right applicant may still be considered without these experiences.
