About NCVS:

North Coast Veterinary Specialist is the only full multidisciplinary referral centre in the beautiful sunshine coast. With a brand-new purpose built hospital and 24/7 fully staffed emergency and critical care services opening in September 2020. We provide a complete range of clinical services including internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology and 24-hour emergency and critical care services. We have regular visiting dermatology and cardiology services as well. The hospital is located on Sunshine coast of SEQ with the world’s most beautiful beaches at your doorstep and the perfect weather all year round.

SURGICAL INTERN POSITION

We have an exciting opportunity for a vet with a keen interest in surgery, who wants to advance their skills and knowledge in orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, oncology and reconstructive surgeries.

The successful applicant will be required to assist in our day-to-day referral surgical cases. This position is a structured learning opportunity and will allow access to a varied case load with the support of highly qualified professionals. The hospital is staffed with specialist, registrars, residents and interns in surgery.

This is a fixed term 12month internship and exclusively surgical, although willingness to assist and integrate with other departments of the hospital would be expected.

You will have opportunities to actively participate in journal clubs, textbook chapter readings, daily case discussions and literature reviews.

We will encourage and provide support for ANZCVS membership examinations if not already enrolled.

Competitive remuneration including 4 weeks of annual leave and 1 week of study leave.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Current registration with the Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board.
  • 2 years of general practice experience or completed a rotating internship, however the right applicant may still be considered without this experience.
