About us

The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) sits within the College of SHEE (Science, Health, Engineering and Education). The SVM offers an internationally accredited BSc/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine course and is supported by more than 40 academics and other professional staff. The school has on campus access to farmland and close proximity to a major tertiary hospital precinct. 

The School is well resourced with research and teaching facilities and hosts a number of research groups and centres that align with the University strategy of Health Futures. 

About the Roles

These roles will provide research, academic, clinical and administrative leadership to the Small Animal Medicine discipline, School and University The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to and cultivate excellence in teaching, research, and professional activities including clinical service, as well as making varying contributions to the mentoring effort of the University and develop the next generation of academic staff at Murdoch University.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • A degree in veterinary science registrable with the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of Western Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in training and supervision of students, interns and residents in companion animal medicine.
  • A track record of success in producing high quality independent research outputs that have national and/or international impact and influence.

For appointment to Senior Lecturer and above:

  • A Specialty Board qualification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (e.g. Diplomate ECVIM-CA, Dip ACVIM or FANZCVS)
  • A track record of success in attracting external competitive research funding that has national and/or international impact.
  • A high level of achievement in successfully supervising honours, Masters by Coursework, HDR and postgraduate students to completion.
