Resident in Small Animal Internal Medicine

The Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre (MVSC) is one of the nation’s leading providers of advanced clinical services for animals. The Centres provide clients, patients and referring veterinarians with the excellent veterinary care within a single operation.

Our Medicine department is seeking interest from suitably qualified individuals for a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine. The successful person will obtain supervised training in order to meet the requirements to enable examinations to gain Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) in the discipline of Small Animal Medicine.

The MVSC includes a diverse group of respected veterinary specialists experienced in referral cases for surgery, internal medicine, consultant oncology, dermatology and animal behaviour. The Centre is equipped for medical investigations with colour flow Doppler ultrasonography, video endoscopy, electrocardiography, digital radiology, fluoroscopy and MRI on-site. Current generation CT is available at nearby facilities while awaiting site upgrades for on-site CT.

Applicants are expected to have a desire for specialist level training, therefore membership in Small Animal Medicine of the ANZCVS, or equivalent, is a highly desirable prerequisite.

The training program is designed to match the primary supervised training requirements of the ANZCVS including weekly journal club, retrospective and prospective clinical trials, attendance at approved meetings and externship in Australia or overseas.
