The 12-month postgraduate trainee program is a year‐long, advanced clinical training program in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in Western Australia. The training program offers clinical experience in specific disciplines and an opportunity to gain formal scholarly training through concurrent enrolment in a graduate program. These positions would suit a recent graduate veterinarian interested in further university training and upskilling in areas that would be relevant to general practice, or a steppingstone to further clinical training such as a residency. Exceptional new graduates will be considered. An annual stipend of $40k is offered with concurrent enrolment in the graduate program which results in award of a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Studies after completion of 2 semesters. Applicants must be able to start the program in early to mid-January for a Semester 1, 2025 enrolment.
Residency training programs

The three-year, full-time residency programs allow a successful candidate to target credential requirements for speciality certification. The residencies are supervised by board-certified academic staff through compulsory, concurrent enrolment in three years, full-time postgraduate study at Murdoch University. Sequential completion of a Masters of Veterinary Clinical Studies (M1223) followed by a research Masters degree is required for completion of the residency training program. A minimum annual stipend of $50,000 is offered to students enrolled full‐time in the postgraduate degrees.
Application for clinical training positions is restricted to veterinarians with a degree that can be registered in Western Australia. Australian and New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status is required for eligibility for full tuition-fee support. Successful applicants who do not meet citizenship or residency criteria are responsible for International Student Tuition Fees beyond domestic fee support.
