Positions Vacant at Riyadh Equine Hospital

Several exciting and challenging opportunities are available at Riyadh Equine Hospital, to allow an expansion of services later this year from our newly opened Equine Hospital.

All positions will be full-time (5.5 day week), based at the Riyadh Equine Hospital.  All positions will require contributing to the after-hours roster, as well as race day and sales attendance.  Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualification level, but is tax free.  The package will include accommodation, vehicle use, annual return flights and a CPD allowance.

1. Equine surgeon

This role is primarily to serve as a second surgeon on the after-hours roster, to help with a large colic caseload.  Opportunity to do elective surgeries, and to assist with complex surgeries, will also be available. Applicants will be expected to be board certified specialists. Experience in Thoroughbred practice, lameness diagnosis and management would be an advantage although not essential. Contribution to the routine racehorse work will be encouraged.

2. Thoroughbred stable vet

This role will be based from the Hospital and will primarily involve developing an ambulatory service to support stables on the racecourse grounds. Previous relevant Thoroughbred racetrack experience is essential, especially in the field of lameness diagnosis, treatment and management, and in poor performance investigation. Secondary roles include lameness investigations at the Hospital, and assisting in an after-hours capacity at the Hospital.

3. Veterinarian - Anaesthesia and in-patient care

A third vet in this role is required due to the caseload. The position will be fairly general, and will likely involve assisting the stable vet in an ambulatory role also. Three years previous experience in a similar role would be expected. An opportunity to develop your own area of interest in equine medicine is likely.
