The Position:

SASH is committed to defining excellence in animal healthcare and so we are now introducing the new position of Hospital Vet to our North Ryde team. This team will have a wide and varied primary case load of patients primarily from Emergency during the day, with the overnight Hospital Vet having responsibility for non-ICU patients. Working closely with our clinicians across all departments will be critical to ensuring our gold standard of care is received by every patient at every stage of their journey.

  • Working collaboratively with ALL hospital departments including; Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine and Surgery.
  • Primary management of hospitalized patients while facilitating a smooth case flow throughout the patient journey.
  • Working closely with the nursing team in our open ward system to provide the highest level of hospital care.

This will be a 24hr, 7 day a week service with a variety of day and night shifts on offer. We have several full time positions available, however we would consider part time and casual opportunities for the right person.  The role will be a pathway to many diverse career opportunities within SASH, depending on your goals. This includes opportunities in leadership and operational management!

About you:

We are looking for passionate and motivated vets who understand how multi-disciplinary hospitals function. To be considered for the position, you must have the following:

  • Excellent communication with the ability to multi task across a wide caseload
  • A commitment to providing the highest level of patient care
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
  • A minimum of 12 months experience as a full time Veterinarian
  • Having previous experience in Emergency, Internal Medicine, Surgery or having completed a rotating internship would be viewed favourably but is not essential
  • A Degree in Veterinary Science registrable in NSW
