Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians at Pet Emergency

Pet Emergency is seeking Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians to join our team.

Pet Emergency is an emergency service associated with Queensland Veterinary Specialists since it was established in 1982. We are the only veterinary hospital in Australia to achieve VECCS Level III certification.

Not only will you have plenty of primary case responsibility in a fast-paced emergency room with an exciting caseload, you will benefit from exposure to the didactic training program developed for our residents and interaction with our amazing specialist team including Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Dentistry and Dermatology departments.  Our emergency and critical care veterinarians receive a competitive remuneration package and have input in a roster designed to maximise work-life balance.

Our successful candidates will have preferably two years’ minimum experience as a veterinarian and must have a veterinary degree that is registrable in Queensland. They will be an enthusiastic, passionate individual who is capable of working efficiently and autonomously but loves practicing gold standard, evidence-based medicine in a large team environment.  They would be expected to act as a clinical mentor to our rotating and emergency intern cohorts.

This position is a perfect role for an experienced veterinarian wanting to prepare for membership examinations in Emergency and Critical Care or intending to apply for residency training programs in Emergency and Critical Care or our allied specialties.  Equally, we are proud of our high staff retention rates and would love to employ a committed individual who wants to grow with our service.

Pet Emergency/QVS is located in Brisbane and has two hospitals in North Lakes and Stafford. We anticipate relocation to a large new purpose-built site in Stafford in 2021.   Brisbane is blessed with a sunny sub-tropical climate which brings with it the most exciting emergency presentations (ticks, snakes, toads, toxicities, heat stress…). It is easily accessible to the beautiful beaches and hinterland of the Sunshine and Gold Coast. Interstate and international applicants are encouraged to apply but may be subject to State government quarantine regulations.

If you would love to be challenged by an exciting future with us, please supply a cover letter and curriculum vitae to Tess O’Keeffe at tess.okeeffe@qldvetspecialists.com.au
