About the opportunity

The Sydney School of Veterinary Science seeks a Director for the Centre for Veterinary Education (CVE). Established in 1965, CVE is the world’s first and leading membership-based organisation dedicated solely to providing continuing education (CE) for veterinarians. CVE prides itself on being a leader in veterinary education worldwide, offering innovative, comprehensive, and flexible CE programs both face-to-face and online. The Director will manage the CVE's strategic, financial, and operational plans to ensure the ongoing growth and development of the CVE as a world leader in veterinary continuing education in a financially sustainable manner. They will engage with the Sydney School of Veterinary Science (SSVS) regarding strategic alignment in professional postgraduate education, external relations management, and event management. Externally, the Director will interact with the broader veterinary profession and key veterinary bodies, including the Australasian Veterinary Board Council (AVBC), Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Science (ANZCVS), Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), and the State Veterinary Boards to provide a cohesive and comprehensive platform for continuing education and professional development.

Reporting to the Head of School and Dean, the Director will provide strategic leadership and represent the CVE in collaborative interactions with the CVE membership, the veterinary profession, the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, the University of Sydney, other Australasian veterinary schools, and relevant external governing and accrediting bodies. They will be a member of the SSVS School executive.

About you (Skills, Capabilities, and Experience):

  • A degree in veterinary science with relevant experience in leadership, management, planning, and finance. Postgraduate qualifications in Veterinary Science, including registrable specialist credentials, are highly desirable.
  • Leadership skills and experience within the veterinary and/or continuing education industries, with the capacity to manage and lead a team environment focused on excellence in program delivery.
  • Experience in strategic, operational, and financial planning, implementation, and monitoring business performance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the capacity to deliver nuanced targeted messages.
  • Proven high-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a strong detail to focus and the ability to deliver to a deadline.

Term and remuneration

The successful candidate will be offered a Full time Continuing position. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
