Canine and Feline Medicine Research Abstracts

The Small Animal Medicine and Feline Chapters invite postgraduate students, residents, interns, clinicians, and researchers to submit abstracts of practical and scientific topics related to canine and feline medicine. Abstracts can be focused on applied or clinical research. Case series describing unusual or difficult cases and outstanding single case reports will additionally be considered.


Submission deadline- 11:59pm AEST 9 April 2019.


Abstracts must be submitted electronically to Mary Thompson at Mary.Thompson@murdoch.edu.au. They will be reviewed by a panel and selected on merit. Authors will be notified via email of acceptance on or before April 23rd 2019. Successful authors must be able to submit their PowerPoint presentation to convenors via Dropbox by 5pm AEST on July 4th and attend the abstract session in its entirety on the morning of July 6th (1.30 - 4.50pm).


Abstracts presented by postgraduate students, small animal or feline medicine residents (including those who have completed a residency within the last 6 months but have not yet completed certifying examinations), and interns may be eligible for prizes. Abstracts that have been presented at other conferences are welcome but this must be disclosed and these abstracts will not be eligible for prizes. No abstract should be entered that will have been submitted as a full-length publication before the abstract submission deadline. Please provide contact details including your mobile phone number with your submission. The Small Animal Medicine Chapter prizes include a first prize of $1000, second prize of $750, and a third prize of $500. The Feline Chapter Abstract prize for the best feline presentation is $1000. Successful feline abstracts will additionally be published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery.
